When Canadian’s Max and Nancy first contacted me about their wedding, they knew they wanted it in Puglia. Nancy had previously visited Puglia with a friend and had fallen in love with it.
“I took a trip to Puglia with one of my friends (who later became a bridesmaid) and enjoyed it so much that I knew I had to go back. So, when we were picking places for our wedding, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to bring my friends and family to a place that I loved.”
For their wedding in Italy they wanted something simple to let the natural beauty speak for itself, so they chose to keep the décor minimal with white flowers and linens and green hues of olive leaves. The brides bouquet and gorgeous floral bridesmaids dresses added a punch of colour. Nancy sent me a fabric swatch of the bridesmaids dresses so we could match the colours perfectly with her bouquet. The couple had a pre-night poolside BBQ dinner and the wedding ceremony took place in the historic town hall of Fasano. The wedding dinner took place on the terrace surrounded by ancient trullis. And a post night at an amazing masseria with an 8 course dinner all made with organic ingredients from the farm.
“We met in law school in Toronto, ON, Canada and he proposed at a little champagne bar in Shanghai.”
The couple were busy studying for their doctorates in law in Manhattan during the planning year so the groom’s Mum was heavily involved in the planning relieving some of the decisions for the couple. She also arranged some surprises such as an accordian player for the pre night BBQ to give it the extra Italian touch!
“I bought my wedding dress on a whim during a trip to Cape Town, South Africa. I met the designer,Elbeth Gillis, and she made the dress to my measurements, so I didn’t even need to make any alterations.”
Seventy wedding guests flew in from 4 continents to celebrate the couples magical day, a dress made to measure from South Africa, a wedding planner from Ireland and the photographer from Greece to capture the special day, truly made this an International event to remember!
