If you’re going to be spending the Christmas Holiday in Italy, then you’ll definitely be spoilt for choice when it comes to the wonderful seasonal events and winter festivals. There are a whole host of Christmas celebrations to take part in to make the best of your trip to Italy.  One unforgettable event has to be a trip to one of the traditional Christmas markets in Italy.

These nostalgic markets are home to an enticing collection of stalls, selling traditional gifts and decorations as well as an assortment of mouth-watering goodies and must-try street-foods. You can also enjoy Christmas nativities (both inanimate and animate!) and pick up some warming festive fayre.

Perhaps one of the best places to visit a festive market in Italy is in the beautiful city of Florence. The Christmas Markets in Florence are very popular, especially the German Christmas market.  Here, you can discover a whole host of German and luxury Italian hand-made goodies, artisan crafts and seasonal treats, of course accompanied by a large jug of German Beer.

Florence isn’t the only place to experience a great Christmas in Tuscany. Why not visit the Christmas market in the beautiful city of Siena. It’s open from 8am until 8pm, and you can get your hands on Christmas cakes, books, gifts and hand-made jewellery. There are a number of exhibitors selling gift ideas, art, crafts and of course food!  The main Christmas market takes place in the mesmerising Piazza del Campo where the event is framed by medieval buildings that surround the piazza.  The Siena Christmas market is a wonderful event for families in the most breath-taking of locations.
